Part Number: AAN-216
This English sporting rifle is shaped as a fusil with a 38" octagon-to-round rifled barrel, engraved brass trim and Jim Chambers round faced flintlock. The curly maple stock has attractive figure from the muzzle to the buttstock. The brass trim is accented with hand engraving. Sent to us in excellent condition, this English Gentleman's flint rifled fusil was built by noted gunmaker Gary White.
The .58 caliber 38" Colerain octagon-to-round barrel is browned to a smooth matte brown. The tapered octagon breech is 12-1/4" long, with a wedding band transition to tapered round, which flares slightly at the muzzle. Colerain rifle barrels are the favorite choice of today's best muzzle loading gun makers, because knowledgeable shooters demand Colerain's accuracy, inside and outside.
Colerain rifle barrels are drilled from solid steel, cut rifled with six "round bottom" grooves in a 1 in 66" rate of twist. Called "radius groove rifling", Colerain eliminates the sharp inside corner that accumulates fouling. Radius groove rifling cutters are a bit more expensive to make, but Colerain's customers agree that the accuracy, easy loading, and easy cleaning are worth the cost.
