This is a nice American Fowling gun is marked on the breech end of the barrel J. Flynn 6 - 1982. The fowler combines a mixture of French influenced furniture with a Germanic style lock. The fowler is stocked in cherry and trimmed in patina finished brass furniture. The 16 gauge by 43" octagon-to-round barrel and large Siler flintlock are finished to a dark matte brown. This fowler is used and has a few scattered handling marks.
The 16 gauge smoothbore barrel has a .665" bore diameter. The bore is bright and has been well maintained. The barrel has a 11" octagon breech that transitions to round. A small iron front sight is fitted behind the muzzle. No rear sight is fitted, nor is one expected on a flint fowling gun. Thus, this smooth bore gun is legal for use in the popular NMLRA North West Trade Gun matches, shooting bird shot at ten clay birds on the trap range, and shooting round balls at paper targets on the 50 yard range. With practice, this gun will serve a primitive deer hunter at ranges up to 100 yards.
This nice fowler weighs 6.8 pounds and has a trigger reach of 13-1/2" to fit today's average shooter.
